Enugu State has taken a bold step in shaping the future of its young population by unleashing 250 trained professionals into the workforce under the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP).
The fellows, who just completed a rigorous 12-month placement across key public institutions and high-growth private firms in the state, were celebrated for their transformation into “polished professionals—ready to lead, build, and innovate.”
Practical Training for Real-World Impact
According to the Enugu SME Center, which facilitated the programme in the state, the initiative combined classroom learning through its Human Capital Development Lab (HCDL) with on-the-job experience.
“From classroom learning to workplace immersion, these fellows have evolved into high-performing professionals, building their careers while strengthening the state’s institutional capacity,” the Center said in a statement.
Wide Coverage Across MDAs and Private Firms
Of the 250 fellows deployed across Enugu State, 70 percent were attached to top-performing Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), while the remaining 30 percent worked in thriving private sector organisations.
Some of the government offices that absorbed the fellows include:
- Enugu SME Center (10 fellows)
- Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (11 fellows)
- Office of the Secretary to the State Government (6 fellows)
- Ministry of Health (5 fellows)
- Office of the Special Adviser on Public Finance (4 fellows)
- Enugu State Marketing Company (4 fellows)
- Office of the Special Adviser on Donor Relations (3 fellows)
- Office of the Special Adviser for Project Development (3 fellows)
- Economic Planning Commission, Ministry of Agriculture & Agro-Industrialization, Ministry of Lands & Urban Development, Ministry of Justice, Sustainable Development Goals Office, and Surveyor General’s Office, among others.
“These agencies provided challenging and high-impact roles that refined the fellows’ skills and advanced their professional growth,” the statement noted.
Strong Private Sector Participation
Placements were also secured in leading private organisations, including:
- Dynamic Keystone Ltd
- Cidon Health & Homes Ltd
- Memfys Hospital
- Potters Wheel Foundation
- Pinnacle of Grace International School
- Edenvale School, Enugu
- Gozinchem International
- Brizong Global Solutions
Organisers said these firms gave the fellows “real business challenges” that prepared them for the competitive world of work.
Equipping Fellows With Lifelong Advantages
The graduates of the scheme leave with a package of hands-on experience, professional mentorship, and clearly defined career pathways into employment, entrepreneurship, or leadership.
Governor Mbah’s Leadership Recognised
The Enugu SME Center attributed the success of the programme to the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
“This milestone would not have been possible without the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and institutional transformation continues to shape Enugu State’s future,” the statement read.
A New Dawn for Youth Empowerment
The Center stressed that while the graduation closes one chapter, it marks the beginning of a new one for Enugu youths.
“This graduation is not just an end—it’s a new beginning. We remain committed to building a pipeline of employable, globally competitive youth through strategic programs like NJFP,” it added.
The Center congratulated the fellows, declaring: “Enugu State is proud of you. The future is now.”
