In a massive show of solidarity, thousands of residents of Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Monday staged a 1 Million-Man March, appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Francis Nwifuru to seek re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The crowd, made up of community leaders, youths, and women groups, marched from Eziulo Junction to the Ishielu Local Government Headquarters in what they described as an expression of gratitude for the developmental strides of both leaders at the federal and state levels.

While receiving the crowd, the Council Chairman, Mrs. Peace Agwu, was presented with the community’s collective appeal urging President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru to make themselves available for re-election, citing their achievements and people-oriented governance.

Speaking during the rally, Mr. Uchenna Agwu, Coordinator of the Peace Team Agwu Support Group, said the people of Ishielu were satisfied with the progress made under the current administration and were eager for continuity.

“We, the people of Ishielu, want you to tell the governor that we are pleading with him to come back for a second tenure. We are at peace with his leadership. He has done well in his first term and deserves to continue,” Agwu said.

“We also want President Bola Tinubu to seek re-election and continue the good work he has started. And you, our amiable Chairman, must also return to complete what you have begun.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Ishielu Local Government, Mr. Okechukwu Abbah, echoed similar sentiments, describing the rally as both an endorsement and a testament to the positive impact of the APC government.

“This movement is to reaffirm our total support for President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru. The APC government has been good to Nigerians, and we are here to tell the world that the people of Ishielu stand firmly with them,” Abbah said.

Addressing journalists after receiving the supporters, Mrs. Agwu expressed delight at the spontaneous show of love and highlighted the numerous developmental projects executed under the current administration.

“Today, I witnessed massive love from my people,” she said. “The movement was not even planned by the council, yet they came out en masse to endorse our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, for a second term because of their outstanding performance in Ebonyi State, especially in Ishielu.”

The council boss listed several completed and ongoing projects by Governor Nwifuru, including the 23-kilometer Ezza–Eziulo–Iyonu–Ezzaegu Road, which she said has brought lasting peace to the area.

“In every ward, the governor has constructed at least a 2-kilometer road. Each traditional ruler now has a modern duplex, and he has also built 144 bungalows in Ishielu, Amaeze, and Izzo communities,” Mrs. Agwu noted.

“These are tangible reasons why our people have come out to show their appreciation and to adopt him for a second term.”

On the federal level, she commended President Tinubu for the ongoing dual carriageway construction that has given the Ishielu Council Headquarters “a new look” and improved economic activity in the area.

“The President has not left us behind. The new double lane road has given our town a facelift. Our people are feeling the impact of his administration,” she added.

The march ended with songs of solidarity, as community members vowed to mobilize massively for both leaders in the upcoming 2027 elections.
