Barr. Steve Oruruo

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the constitution of new caretaker committees for the party’s chapters in Enugu, Delta, and Rivers States, following the expiration of previous executive tenures.

In a statement issued on December 12, 2025, the National Organizing Secretary, Theophilus Dakas Shan, said the decision was taken on behalf of the National Executive Committee (NEC) pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended).

According to the statement, the NWC has reappointed Barr. Steve Oruruo as Chairman of the Enugu State Caretaker Committee, marking his return to lead the chapter for another term.

Shan explained that the committees are mandated to run the affairs of the party in their respective states for a period not exceeding 90 days, or until new executives are duly elected, in accordance with Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP Constitution.

“In carrying out these assignments, the Committees are to be guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended,” Shan stated.

He congratulated all appointed members and urged them to uphold the party’s values, ensure internal stability, and prepare the groundwork for credible state congresses.

“Once again, Congratulations!” he added.
