The Enugu State Government says it is deepening support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through asset-based interventions designed to boost productivity, scale operations and create sustainable jobs across the state.
This was disclosed by the Enugu MSME & Startup Agency (Enugu SME Center), which said the initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah as part of deliberate policies to strengthen business competitiveness and prosperity in Enugu State.
According to the agency, the state government is providing targeted equipment grant support to MSMEs, enabling entrepreneurs to access critical tools needed to improve efficiency, expand their businesses and contribute more meaningfully to the local economy.
The intervention, the agency noted, aligns with the Grow Enugu Agenda for Peter Mbah (GEAP), which places enterprise growth, private-sector productivity and business prosperity at the core of the state’s economic transformation strategy.
Governor Mbah underscored the importance of MSMEs to Enugu’s development vision, stressing that economic growth must be driven from the grassroots.
“Our objective is clear: to build an economy where businesses can thrive, expand, and create wealth. When our MSMEs are productive and competitive, Enugu State prospers,” the governor said.
The Enugu MSME & Startup Agency reaffirmed its commitment to translating the governor’s vision into practical, high-impact interventions, adding that the equipment grant programme is part of broader efforts to strengthen the real economy across all sectors of the state.
The agency said it would continue to design and implement programmes that empower entrepreneurs, stimulate job creation and position Enugu as a leading hub for enterprise growth and innovation in Nigeria.
With sustained government backing, the state believes MSMEs will remain a key driver of inclusive growth, wealth creation and long-term economic stability in Enugu State.
