The Federal Government, state governments and local government councils have shared a total of ₦1.969 trillion as December 2025 Federation Account Revenue, following the January 2026 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) held in Abuja.
The allocation was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), Bawa Mokwa.
According to Mokwa, the December distributable revenue comprised ₦1.084 trillion in statutory revenue, ₦846.507 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), and ₦38.110 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL).
He explained that the gross revenue available for the month stood at ₦2.585 trillion, out of which ₦104.697 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while ₦511.585 billion went into transfers, refunds and savings.
“Total deduction for cost of collection was ₦104.697 billion, while total transfers, refunds, and savings were ₦511.585 billion,” Mokwa said.
From the ₦1.084 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the Federal Government received ₦520.807 billion, state governments received ₦264.160 billion, while local government councils got ₦203.656 billion. In addition, ₦96.083 billion, representing 13 per cent derivation revenue, was shared among the benefiting states.
Overall, from the ₦1.969 trillion total distributable revenue, the Federal Government received ₦653.500 billion, the state governments received ₦706.469 billion, while the local government councils received ₦513.272 billion.
Breaking down the ₦846.507 billion VAT revenue, Mokwa said the Federal Government got ₦126.976 billion, states received ₦423.254 billion, and local governments received ₦296.277 billion.
On the Electronic Money Transfer Levy, he noted that the Federal Government received ₦5.717 billion, state governments got ₦19.055 billion, while local government councils received ₦13.338 billion.
Mokwa also provided insights into revenue performance during the month, noting that Companies Income Tax (CIT)/Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties (STD), Import Duty and VAT recorded significant increases in December.
He added that Oil and Gas Royalty as well as CET Levies and Fees increased marginally, while Excise Duty, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT)/Hydrocarbon Tax (HT), and EMTL recorded considerable declines during the period.
The FAAC meeting is a statutory forum where revenues accruing to the federation are shared monthly among the three tiers of government.
