The people of Enugu North Senatorial District, popularly known as Nsukka Zone, are set to stage a mega endorsement rally for Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 2, 2026, in a show of support for their leadership and ahead of the 2027 elections.

The rally, scheduled to take place at the Nsukka Township Stadium by 10 a.m., is expected to attract major political stakeholders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, business leaders, youth and women groups, civil society organisations, students, and professionals from across the senatorial district and beyond.

According to the organisers, the event is aimed at appreciating what they described as the impactful leadership of both leaders and their contributions to the development of Enugu North Zone.

In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, the organisers said the rally would also serve as a formal reaffirmation of the zone’s commitment to support Governor Mbah’s return to the Enugu State Government House and President Tinubu’s re-election to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in 2027.

They noted that the administration of Governor Mbah has delivered several major projects across the Nsukka Zone, including the establishment of Smart Green Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in each of the 102 electoral wards in the state.

The organisers also highlighted the revamp and re-equipping of the Type 3 Primary Healthcare Centre at Adani as part of the governor’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in the region.

On infrastructure, they pointed to the ongoing dualisation of the Abakpa–Ugwuogo Nike–Ekwegbe–Opi Road as one of the major road projects transforming access and connectivity in the district.

They also listed the Ama Brewery–Eke–Akama Oghe–Iwollo–Umulopka Road, which they said is already at an advanced stage of completion, alongside several other projects being executed directly by the state government, through local governments, and others already in the pipeline.

The statement noted that the rally would bring together political leaders across party lines as a demonstration of unity and shared commitment to the continued development of the zone.

Traditional rulers, religious leaders, market leaders, women and youth groups, farmers, artisans, civil society organisations, academics, professionals, and students are all expected to be part of the large gathering.

Organisers described the event as a major political statement from Enugu North ahead of the 2027 general elections and a clear signal of continued support for both leaders.
