Governor Hope Uzodimma has reportedly been removed as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) following an extraordinary meeting of governors held in Abuja shortly after the submission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential nomination form.
The high-level meeting, attended by about 20 governors aligned with the ruling party, was still ongoing at the time of filing this report.
Sources at the meeting disclosed that governors from states including Ogun, Bayelsa, Enugu and several others participated in the closed-door session where the leadership change was reportedly agreed upon.
Although details surrounding Uzodinma’s removal were still sketchy as of press time, insiders said discussions centred on restructuring the leadership of the influential governors’ bloc ahead of the 2027 political season.
A new chairman of the forum is expected to be announced after the conclusion of the meeting.
The development comes amid heightened political realignments within the ruling party following the formal submission of President Tinubu’s nomination documents.
