Dr. F.S.A Uzor

Former Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Governor, Festus Uzor, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections after defeating incumbent lawmaker, Cyriacus Umeha, in a landslide primary election.

The direct primary election, conducted across the 40 electoral wards in Udi and Ezeagu local government areas of Enugu State, produced a crushing victory for Uzor, who secured 17,639 votes against Umeha’s 107 votes.

Announcing the results, the collation officer for the exercise, Eva Anibueze, gave the breakdown of votes recorded in the two local government areas.

According to her, in Udi Local Government Area, Uzor polled 12,172 votes while Umeha secured 65 votes.

In Ezeagu Local Government Area, Uzor recorded 5,467 votes, while Umeha got 42 votes.

The final tally showed:

  • Dr. Festus Uzor — 17,639 votes
  • Hon. Cyriacus Umeha — 107 votes

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Uzor described the outcome as both encouraging and humbling, thanking party members for what he called overwhelming support.

“I feel good by this massive support from our loyal party members in Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency and at the same time, I feel humbled by the overwhelming support given to me today,” he said.

He added that the margin of victory would serve as motivation for him ahead of the main election.

“The massive votes is also a charge to perform well when I win the main election,” Uzor stated.

With the victory, the APC standard-bearer is now set to fly the party’s flag in the January 16, 2027 House of Representatives election for Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency.

Uzor, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation, is expected to face candidates from other political parties in what observers say could reshape the political landscape of the constituency.
