Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Abia North in a commanding victory over his challenger, Philip Nto, securing overwhelming wins across all five local government areas in the district.
Results from the APC primary election showed that Kalu dominated voting in Ohafia, Arochukwu, Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs, with reports indicating near-total control across wards and polling units.
In Ohafia LGA, he recorded a decisive sweep across wards such as Etiti, Agbo, Ameke, Agboji, Ohafor, and Okamu, with Nto reportedly polling zero votes in several locations.
A similar pattern played out in Arochukwu LGA, where Kalu secured clear victories across Ututu, Ikwun Ihechiowa, Ohafor Abam, as well as Arochukwu Ward 1 and Ward 2, among other polling units.
He also posted strong performances in Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi LGAs, further consolidating his dominance across the senatorial district.
Party stakeholders and supporters described the outcome as a reflection of Kalu’s entrenched political structure, grassroots influence, and sustained dominance within the APC in Abia North.
The exercise, closely monitored by party officials and observers, has been widely described as a major boost for the APC ahead of the general election.
