The All Progressives Congress (APC) All Progressives Congress has reversed its earlier position and cleared former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce and four other aspirants, after issuing an updated list of senatorial aspirants not cleared for its primaries.
The revised list, released on Monday and signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, followed an earlier publication that had barred several aspirants from participating in the party’s senatorial primary elections.
In the new adjustment, the number of affected aspirants was reduced from 47 to 44. However, the party did not provide reasons for the removal of some names from the initial list.
Morka stated:
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) hereby releases an updated list of Senatorial aspirants not cleared to participate in the Party’s Senate Primary Elections.
“The APC urges all stakeholders to uphold transparency, orderliness, and the integrity of the ongoing Primary Election process.”
Murray-Bruce, who previously represented Bayelsa East in the Senate, had appeared in the initial list of aspirants not cleared but was removed in the updated version without official explanation from the party.
Also removed from the earlier “not cleared” category were four other aspirants: Chimzobam Kingsley Nnalue (Anambra North), Gyang Yaya Zi San (Plateau North), Napoleon Binkap Bah (Plateau South), and Usman Ephraim Gar (Plateau Central).
The APC further introduced adjustments affecting other aspirants, including new classifications such as voluntary withdrawal, defection, and failure to appear for screening.
Ibrahim Bala (Nasarawa West) was listed as not cleared, while Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana from the same district was marked as having voluntarily withdrawn.
Similarly, Benson Agadaga (Bayelsa East) and Donald Daunemigita (Bayelsa West) were reclassified as voluntary withdrawals, while Garba Musa Mai Doki (Kebbi South) was listed as having defected from the party. Adam Mouktar Mohammed (Jigawa South West) was recorded as not appearing for screening.
