The All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed as fake a purported list of its senatorial candidates currently circulating on social media and other online platforms, urging party members and the public to disregard the publication.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, APC said the document titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” did not originate from the APC and does not reflect any official decision of the party.
“The APC wishes to state that the said list is FAKE, and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement read.
Morka cautioned members, stakeholders, media organisations, and the general public against relying on or sharing the list, stressing that it lacks official authorization.
“Accordingly, Party members, stakeholders, the media, and the general public are advised to disregard the publication in its entirety,” the party stated.
The party further reiterated that only its National Working Committee (NWC), acting through approved communication channels, has the authority to announce candidates emerging from party primaries and other constitutionally recognised processes.
“The Party reiterates that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, acting through its duly authorized channels of communication, is empowered to announce the list of candidates emerging from its primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes,” the statement added.
The party also warned against the circulation of unverified information capable of creating confusion, misleading the public, or undermining confidence in its internal democratic procedures.
“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” Morka said.
