Governor Alex Otti of Abia State on Saturday inspected ongoing construction works at the site of the new Government House being developed by his administration in Umuahia.
The project, which is expected to serve as the permanent seat of government, will accommodate the Governor’s Office, official residential quarters, administrative offices and other supporting facilities upon completion.
The inspection formed part of the governor’s continued monitoring of key infrastructure projects being executed across the state as his administration pursues its urban renewal and institutional development agenda.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the new Government House project is one of several strategic initiatives aimed at rebuilding critical public infrastructure and restoring the state’s institutional assets.
“Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, earlier today inspected the ongoing construction of a brand new Government House, which will house the Governor’s Office, Official Residential quarters and other office and residential buildings,” Ekeoma said.
The media aide noted that since assuming office, Otti has adopted a phased approach to the development of the new Government House complex while simultaneously embarking on the rehabilitation and construction of other critical government facilities.
“Since assumption of office, Governor Otti has been carrying out phase by phase construction of a brand new Government House, which had seen his government deliver a brand new SSG’s Office and the reconstruction of the Michael Okpara Auditorium etc.,” he stated.
Ekeoma described the projects as part of the administration’s broader efforts to reposition the state and restore public confidence in government infrastructure.
“Gradually, we are recovering our state and restoring our dignity as a people,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the future of the state, the governor’s spokesman added: “Tomorrow looks brighter for Ndi Abia.”
The new Government House project is among several flagship infrastructure developments being undertaken by the Otti administration as part of its commitment to modernising public facilities and improving governance structures across Abia State.
