An atmosphere of grief enveloped the Independence Layout residence of the late Engineer Emeka Lawrence Anyanyor in Enugu as family members, friends, associates and sympathisers gathered to condole with his family following his death at the age of 62 after an illness in an Enugu hospital.
Engr. Anyanyor, born in 1964, reportedly passed away after an illness on June 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, professionalism and service to humanity.
Among the early mourners was former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Barrister KGB Oguakwa, a longtime friend and family solicitor of the deceased, who described his passing as a painful personal loss.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the widow Oge and Son Ifechukwu, Oguakwa paid glowing tribute to the late engineer, recalling decades of friendship and admiration for his character.
He described Anyanyor as “a most reliable lifelong friend, a thoroughbred competent professional, an accomplished civil engineer and builder, an epitome of scrupulous honesty, of dedicated personal industry, of unstinting integrity, and of sacrificial loyalty.”
The former lawmaker further extolled the virtues of the deceased, saying he lived a life defined by peace, faith, patience and selflessness.
“He was a tireless advocate of peace, a mortal of inexhaustible patience, a devout catholic, a loving husband, a doting father, a man of unparalleled goodness, and a benefactor per excellence to a lot many folks whose lives he touched whilst sojourning on this earth. Emeka will be sorely missed,” Oguakwa said.
Earlier, the family announced the passing of the respected engineer in an obituary statement signed by his son, Mr. Ifechukwu Anyanyor.
“The Family of Anyanyor Nwoye of Umuatukosi Uruekwulum Kindred, Amawa Village, Ogbunike Town, Oyi L.G.A. of Anambra State, announce the passing away of their Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Uncle, Engineer Emeka Lawrence Anyanyor, who transitioned unto eternity on 1st June 2026 after illness,” the statement read.
The family disclosed that the late engineer is survived by his wife, children, siblings, cousins, uncles, in-laws and numerous relatives.
“Please pray for the repose of his kind and generous soul.
“May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, amen,” the family added.

Widely respected for his professional accomplishments and personal integrity, Engr. Anyanyor is remembered as a man whose kindness, honesty and unwavering commitment to others left an enduring mark on all who encountered him.
As tributes continue to pour in from across Nigeria, friends and associates say his life was a testament to the values of hard work, loyalty, humility and service—qualities that will ensure his memory lives on for generations.
