The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on June 19, 2026, by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu is an experienced police officer with a background spanning public communication, intelligence management, operational policing, administration, and institutional accountability.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has undergone extensive professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, strategic communication, and human rights-based policing.

Before his appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he coordinated public complaint management and championed initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

He also previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State, among several other operational and administrative assignments across the country.

Throughout his career, the new police spokesman has occupied several strategic positions, including Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.

Announcing the appointment, the Inspector-General of Police expressed confidence in Iniedu’s capacity to lead the Force Public Relations Department.

According to the statement, the IGP believes that CSP Iniedu’s “experience and professional background will further enhance the Force’s strategic communication efforts and strengthen public engagement in support of ongoing policing reforms and operational successes.”

The statement added that the appointment aligns with the Force’s commitment to improving communication with citizens and deepening public participation in policing.

Members of the public and media stakeholders were encouraged to engage with the new Force spokesperson through official communication channels as he assumes his new responsibilities.
