The Etsu of Kwali, Luka Nizassan III, has hailed the completion of the Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji Road in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing the project as a transformative intervention that has ended years of neglect and opened up the agrarian communities to economic growth and improved security.

Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the road’s inauguration in Dafa on Tuesday, the traditional ruler said the project fulfilled a long-standing aspiration of the people, commending President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for responding to the needs of the communities.

“We feel so delighted that this part of the area council is benefiting from government intervention. There is nothing happier than having you make demands and the demands have been met,” Nizassan said.

The monarch described the road as one of the oldest routes in the former Abuja Emirate, now part of the Suleja Emirate, explaining that it dates back to the colonial era when it served as a major corridor for tax collection and other administrative activities.

Despite its historical importance, he lamented that the road had been abandoned for decades, with previous attempts by successive administrations and private individuals to rehabilitate it proving unsuccessful.

“Previous administrations and private individuals had attempted to fix the road, but all efforts failed until Wike intervened,” he said.

Nizassan noted that the newly completed road would significantly boost commercial activities in the area while strengthening security by making previously inaccessible communities easier for security agencies to patrol.

“This road was so bad to the level that having security men accessing this place for patrols and search and combing became so difficult.

“It will improve the security of this area because people who commit heinous crimes do not like accessible areas,” he stated.

He explained that the road links four strategic political wards, connecting Yangoji on the major expressway to Dafa, Gomani and Pai, a development he said would ease transportation and enable farmers to move agricultural produce to urban markets more efficiently.

The traditional ruler also urged residents to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, describing governance as a partnership between the government and the people.

“Government is a game of give and take. Our responsibility now is to also supply our own share, which is support.

“We will continue to provide support for this administration because we still expect more from the government,” he said.

Looking ahead, Nizassan expressed optimism that the FCT Administration would fulfil its promises to provide pipe-borne water and rehabilitate schools across the area.

“This will provide clean water for my people and ensure a conducive learning environment for students,” he added.
