The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Enugu State Chapter, has elected a new Executive Committee to pilot the affairs of the chapter, with Tpl. Dr. Anierobi Christopher emerging as Chairman.
The new leadership was inaugurated on Thursday during the chapter’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at the Town Planners House, Town Planning Boulevard, Independence Layout, Enugu.
The well-attended meeting brought together members of the institute from across Enugu State to review the chapter’s activities over the past year, strengthen professional collaboration, and chart a new course for advancing physical planning and sustainable urban development in the state.
The AGM featured the presentation of the chapter’s annual report, a valedictory session in honour of the outgoing Executive Committee, the conduct of elections, and the swearing-in of newly elected officers.
Addressing members, the National President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Tpl. Dr. Chime Andrew Ogbonna, commended the outgoing executive for its dedication and contributions to the growth of the profession in Enugu State.
He noted that the chapter recorded remarkable progress under the immediate past leadership and urged members to sustain the achievements.
Ogbonna also congratulated the newly elected executive, charging them to prioritise the domestication and effective implementation of the Town Planning Law in Enugu State.
According to him, the implementation of the law is critical to ensuring orderly physical development, sustainable urban growth, and effective development control across the state.
The newly inaugurated executive comprises:
- Tpl. Dr. Anierobi Christopher – Chairman
- Tpl. Attamah Ikechukwu – Secretary
- Tpl. Prince Ozoejike Obinna Emmanuel – Public Relations Secretary
- Tpl. Ezechi Chidiebere Stanleous – Financial Secretary
- Tpl. Eneje Solomon – Provost
Other elected officers were also inaugurated to serve in various capacities during the new tenure.
Members expressed confidence in the ability of the new leadership to build on the achievements of its predecessors by promoting professional excellence, ethical standards, advocacy, and sustainable physical planning across Enugu State.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by members to advance the objectives of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners and contribute meaningfully to sustainable urban and regional development in Enugu State and Nigeria.
Among the dignitaries who attended the AGM were HRH Igwe Dr. A.B.C. Ude, Traditional Ruler of Etiti Obeleagu Umana; Prof. Edmond Iyi, Dean, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT); Prof. Lucy Ugwu; and Dr. Chijioke Edmond.
