The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has confirmed that Vice President Kashim Shettima will again run alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, following the formal presentation of their joint nomination forms.

Yilwatda made the announcement in a statement issued on Friday, July 10, 2026, after receiving the presidential nomination forms of both Tinubu and Shettima at a ceremony held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.

The nomination forms were presented on behalf of President Tinubu by his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Masari, officially confirming Shettima as the President’s running mate for the 2027 election.

Describing the occasion as a landmark moment for the ruling party, Yilwatda said the APC was united behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and determined to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Today marked another significant milestone in the journey of our great party as I formally received the presidential nomination forms of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, ahead of the 2027 general election,” Yilwatda said.

“It was a defining moment that reaffirmed our collective resolve to sustain the Renewed Hope Agenda and deepen the progress already being recorded across the country.”

According to the APC chairman, the submission of the nomination forms reflected the confidence of the ruling party in the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as it seeks a renewed mandate from Nigerians.

“The presentation underscored the confidence of our party in the leadership of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as they prepare to seek a renewed mandate from the Nigerian people,” he stated.

Yilwatda disclosed that the ceremony attracted prominent leaders of the APC, including the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside Governors Mai Mala Buni, Nasir Idris, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Uba Sani, Babagana Umara Zulum and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as well as other party executives and stakeholders from across the country.

He described the gathering as a reflection of the unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.

“The atmosphere was one of unity, confidence and shared purpose. As we move towards 2027, the All Progressives Congress remains focused on strengthening its grassroots support, consolidating the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda and working together to build a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Nigeria for all,” Yilwatda added.

The formal submission of the joint nomination forms effectively confirms Shettima’s return as President Tinubu’s running mate, ending speculation over the vice-presidential slot as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general election.
