President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 officials into 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerging as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in a statement issued on Monday, July 20, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Fayose will chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. The board also retains the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.
President Tinubu also reconstituted the National Salary and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa as chairman and naming eight other officials into the commission.
Former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) will serve as commissioners.
Other members appointed into the commission are Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
In another key appointment, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
The President also named Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, replacing Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Tinubu equally inaugurated a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
The President further appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
In the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Gisaor Vincent Iorja was appointed Executive Director (Finance), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue the Benue State governorship.
Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic, currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
Announcing the appointments, Onanuga said they take immediate effect.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 new appointments into 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions… All the appointments take immediate effect,” Onanuga said in the statement issued on July 20, 2026.
