The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of its ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Gbajabiamila appeared before investigators at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 20, 2026, following an invitation by the anti-graft agency over the circumstances surrounding the emergence and activities of the alleged fake agency.
His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that the President’s Chief of Staff honoured the invitation, cooperated fully with investigators, and returned to his official duties after providing his testimony.
“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye said in a statement.
The interrogation comes weeks after President Bola Tinubu, on July 2, ordered the ICPC to launch a comprehensive probe into the PFIPC controversy amid concerns over the agency’s legitimacy and operations.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had announced that the President directed the anti-corruption commission to carry out a thorough investigation and submit a comprehensive report on its findings within 30 days.
The ICPC has yet to make public the outcome of its investigation, while the probe into the PFIPC scandal continues.
