Respected journalist and media practitioner, Hon. Amaechi Ugwele, has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his appointment as a member of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service to the nation.

Ugwele’s appointment was announced on Monday as part of President Tinubu’s fresh appointments into key federal government agencies and commissions.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the veteran journalist also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, for recommending him for the national assignment.

He described the appointment as a call to greater responsibility and assured Nigerians that he would discharge his duties with diligence, integrity and unwavering commitment.

“I sincerely thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding me worthy of appointment as a member of the Board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission,” Ugwele said.

He also acknowledged Governor Mbah’s support, noting that the recommendation reflected the governor’s confidence in his capacity to contribute meaningfully to national development.

“I also thank Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for finding me worthy of recommendation,” he added.

The newly appointed board member pledged to deploy his experience in public policy and media practice in advancing the mandate of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission.

“I will serve the nation, putting in nothing but the best of my ability,” Ugwele assured.

Reflecting on the responsibility that comes with the appointment, he stressed that public office demands accountability and measurable results.

“To whom much is given, much is expected, hence there has to be commensurate delivery to justify the faith of Mr. President in me,” he stated.

Ugwele, a respected journalist with decades of experience in developmental communication, studied Creative Arts at the University of Port Harcourt. Throughout his career, he has remained actively involved in developmental journalism, public policy advocacy and media initiatives across both the print and broadcast sectors.

His appointment to the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission forms part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to strengthen key institutions responsible for promoting transparency, accountability and prudent management of the nation’s public finances.
