Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has sent another batch of young beneficiaries from the district to the People’s Republic of China for specialised training, reaffirming his commitment to human capital development and youth empowerment.
Kalu announced that the beneficiaries had arrived safely in China, where they will undergo intensive capacity-building programmes aimed at equipping them with practical skills, technical expertise and global exposure to enhance their personal growth and contribute to national development.
The lawmaker described investment in human capital as the most sustainable form of empowerment, stressing that education and skills acquisition remain indispensable tools for unlocking the potential of Nigeria’s youth.
“I have always believed that the most enduring form of empowerment is investing in people. By exposing our young men and women to quality education, practical skills and global best practices, we are preparing them to become innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders who will contribute meaningfully to the development of our communities and our nation,” Kalu said.
He explained that the overseas training initiative forms part of his broader intervention programme designed to strengthen education, promote capacity building and create opportunities for young people in Abia North to compete effectively in an increasingly globalised economy.
According to the former Senate Chief Whip, the initiative underscores his unwavering commitment to preparing the next generation with the knowledge, competence and international exposure required to drive sustainable development in both Abia North and Nigeria.
“The future of Abia North lies in the potential of its people. That is why our commitment to education, capacity building, skills acquisition and international exposure remains constant,” he added.
Kalu congratulated the latest beneficiaries on their selection and urged them to maximise the opportunity by acquiring valuable knowledge, practical experience and innovative ideas that would positively impact their communities upon their return.
