Kebbi State has been thrown into mourning following the death of former Deputy Governor Ibrahim Aliyu, a respected politician who spent eight years serving as the state’s second-highest-ranking official.
Aliyu, who served as deputy governor under former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari from 2007 to 2015, reportedly passed away in Sokoto. His death marks the end of a notable political career that contributed to Kebbi State’s democratic development.
News of his passing sparked widespread grief among political leaders, community members and residents across the state, with many describing him as a dedicated public servant whose contributions would not be forgotten.
Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former deputy governor, describing it as a painful loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole.
In a condolence message, Governor Idris praised Aliyu’s years of service and extended his sympathies to the deceased’s family, the people of Yauri Emirate and all those mourning his death.
