An unidentified man was found dead on Thursday after residents discovered his body hanging inside an unfinished building in the Albishiri community of Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, sparking concern among locals as authorities moved to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The grim discovery was made in the early hours of the day by residents, who immediately alerted community leaders and relevant authorities.
Confirming the incident, the community leader, Dangana Abubakar, said the deceased had not been identified at the time the body was found.
According to Abubakar, residents came across the body while passing through the uncompleted structure on Thursday morning.
“The body was discovered hanging inside the unfinished building in the morning,” he said.
The incident drew residents to the area, with many expressing shock over the tragic development in the otherwise quiet neighbourhood.
Although the cause of the man’s death has yet to be established, the identity of the deceased and the events leading to the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Abubakar said the matter had been reported to the appropriate security authorities to enable them to commence investigations.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators, urging anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or shed light on the incident to come forward.
