The lawmaker representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Donland Ojogo, on Saturday narrowly escaped death after his two-vehicle convoy was involved in a road accident along the Ore–Ondo Road in Ondo State.
The accident reportedly occurred when a commercial bus attempting to overtake Ojogo’s convoy collided with an oncoming vehicle, triggering panic among motorists and other road users.
Ojogo, who recently secured his return to the National Assembly, was reportedly travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political engagement when the incident occurred.
Although the lawmaker escaped without serious injuries, some members of his entourage were affected in the crash and were subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Reacting to the incident, Ojogo expressed gratitude to God for protecting him and members of his team, saying the accident could have resulted in a tragedy.
“God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident,” he said.
The lawmaker attributed the crash to what he described as reckless driving and impatience by the driver of the commercial bus, alleging that the vehicle dangerously overtook his convoy before colliding with an approaching vehicle.
Those who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical attention, while further details about the extent of their injuries were not immediately available.
