The Anambra State Police Command has foiled an alleged plot to murder a citizen and take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, arresting four suspects and recovering two firearms and live ammunition.
The breakthrough, according to a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, followed the intelligence-led strategy adopted by the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama.
The operation was carried out on the evening of Wednesday, August 12, by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi, following credible intelligence on the alleged plot.
The suspects, identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37, were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi.
Two firearms and live ammunition were also recovered during the operation.
According to the command, preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects were allegedly connected to a conspiracy to murder a citizen and subsequently take possession of his landed properties.
Police, however, said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other persons who may have been involved and determine the specific roles allegedly played by each suspect.
The four suspects remain in police custody and will be prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
Commenting on the development, CP Nnanna said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of the command’s renewed intelligence-led policing strategy.
He said the strategy was designed to detect criminal threats before they materialise, disrupt planned attacks and prevent the loss of lives and property.
The commissioner assured residents that the command would continue to deploy intelligence and proactive policing to identify and dismantle criminal networks across the state.
