The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC), Enugu State Chapter, has launched a free online registration drive for youths across the state and announced plans to assess government projects executed in the 17 local government areas over the past three years.

The state chairman of the NYC, Comr. Engr. Prince Edeoga, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Friday, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to youth development, peacebuilding, good governance and constructive engagement with the Enugu State Government and other stakeholders.

Edeoga said the Congress had repositioned itself to document, unite and empower youths across the state, declaring, “Tomorrow begins today.”

According to him, the NYC currently has a structure covering all 17 LGAs and 260 wards in Enugu State, which he described as a strong platform for youth mobilisation, engagement and empowerment.

He, however, stressed that the organisation remained politically neutral and had no affiliation with any political party.

“Our mandate is to advance the interests of Enugu youths and reposition the state as a hub for international tourism, investment, and sustainable development,” he said.

Edeoga said the Congress was prepared to work with any leader who demonstrated vision, capacity and integrity, stressing that “tomorrow waits for no one and tomorrow begins today.”

He also urged youths to recognise the importance of grassroots participation in governance, noting that decisions taken from the local level to the federal level would ultimately shape the future of the state.

### Free online registration

As part of its efforts to build a comprehensive database of youths in the state, the NYC chairman unveiled the **NYC Enugu Online Youth Registration Portal**, which he said would enable the organisation to document youths living across the state.

He explained that every registered participant would receive a unique NYC Registration Code Number and be recognised as a “Youth of Capacity” within the Congress.

According to Edeoga, the initiative would provide accurate and verifiable data on Enugu’s youth population, covering both indigenes and residents.

He said the database would support strategic planning, targeted empowerment programmes and efforts to attract development partners and investors to the state.

Describing the registration platform as a unifying initiative for Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba and other ethnic groups living in Enugu, Edeoga urged youths to take advantage of the free registration exercise.

“An uncounted youth remains an invisible youth,” he asserted.

He further said the initiative could have national significance because the NYC is linked with youth structures across the federation.

### NYC to audit projects across 17 LGAs

Edeoga also announced that the Enugu chapter would commence a statewide assessment tour covering all 17 LGAs to document and evaluate projects executed during the last three years of the current administration.

He said the exercise would provide an objective basis for assessing the performance of leaders and determining those deserving of continued youth support.

The chairman urged Enugu youths to reject what he described as the politics of inducement and instead prioritise capacity, character and competence when making leadership choices.

He also challenged youths to become more actively involved in governance and community development.

“To government, we say: partner with us. We are ready. To our youths, we say: register today, unite today, and lead today. There is no more time for idle talk. It is time for action. E dey play, e dey show,” Edeoga concluded.
