Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has congratulated Professor Frances Ngozi Chukwukere on her appointment as the new Vice-Chancellor of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), Ogboko, Imo State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and signed by its Global Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation described Chukwukere’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of her academic accomplishments, leadership qualities and contributions to the preservation and advancement of Igbo language and culture.
The organisation described the new Vice-Chancellor as a distinguished scholar of Linguistics whose career has been defined by commitment to scholarship, indigenous knowledge, Igbo language preservation and academic development.
Ohanaeze said her emergence was a fitting recognition of her intellectual capacity and administrative experience, expressing confidence that she would deploy her wealth of experience to advance the fortunes of the university.
The organisation also noted that Chukwukere is one of four distinguished professors appointed under the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Professorial Endowment Chair initiative, established to promote scholarship and research while strengthening efforts towards the preservation of Igbo language and cultural heritage.
Reacting to the appointment, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, described it as “a well-deserved recognition of Professor Chukwukere’s accomplished scholarship, obvious leadership qualities and no doubt commitment to the preservation and advancement of Igbo language and culture.”
Mbata expressed confidence that the professor would bring her academic and administrative experience to bear in steering KOMU to greater heights.
“Professor Chukwukere’s appointment is a fitting recognition of her accomplishments and leadership qualities. We are confident that she will make a significant impact in her new responsibility,” he said.
Ohanaeze wished the new Vice-Chancellor a successful and impactful tenure, assuring her of the organisation’s continued support and goodwill as she assumes leadership of the university.
