…Summit Holds October 3 in Enugu
The Royal Father of the Day for the 2026 Southeast Aviation Summit and Eastwing Youth Competition (SASEYC), HRM Igwe Ambassador Dr. Lawrence Agubuzu, has endorsed the initiative, pledging his support for the programme and urging young people to take advantage of the opportunities it offers.
Igwe Agubuzu gave his endorsement when the SASEYC organising team paid him a courtesy visit ahead of the summit, which is being organised through the Eastwing Youth Foundation, the non-profit arm of Eastwing Aviation Institute.
The traditional ruler, who is a former Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and former Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, charged young people to go beyond acquiring academic certificates and develop practical and specialised skills that can position them for meaningful careers.
He stressed that while formal education remains important, young people must also acquire competencies capable of addressing real-world challenges.
“You need to become an expert in your chosen field. Get proper training. Obtain recognised certificates… Develop yourself and become highly skilled.”
The royal father particularly encouraged young people aspiring to build careers in aviation to learn from experienced professionals and industry veterans, stressing that competence and precision are critical in a sector where human lives are directly involved.
He noted that the global nature of aviation creates opportunities for properly trained and qualified professionals to work across geographical, religious and ethnic boundaries.
According to him, airlines and aircraft owners ultimately seek individuals with the requisite training, qualifications and competence to perform their responsibilities effectively.
Summit Date Shifted to October 3
Meanwhile, the organisers announced that the SASEYC 2026 summit, initially scheduled for September 26, will now take place on October 3, 2026, at Bon Hotel Platinum Event Center, Enugu State.
The organisers said the summit is designed to expose young people to opportunities across the aviation industry while providing access to training, mentorship and international learning opportunities.
As part of the initiative, the organisers have partnered with Sofema Aviation Academy, Bulgaria, to provide participants with access to professional aviation courses.
The summit is expected to bring together young people, aviation professionals, industry veterans and other stakeholders for discussions on career opportunities, skills development and pathways into the aviation sector.
The SASEYC team expressed appreciation to its partners and supporters, including Bon Hotel Platinum Event Center, The Sun Newspaper, Comzo Hotels, Pentagon Shopping Mall, AFIA TV, Fidelity Bank, Sofema Aviation Academy, Artmatazz Media House, GMT News and NAN, among others.
The organisers urged young people across the Southeast and beyond to attend the summit, interact with experienced professionals and take advantage of the platform to begin developing specialised skills and careers in aviation.
