The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the conduct of five legislative bye-elections across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states.
The Commission announced the date and details of the elections in a post on its official X handle on Friday, September 11, 2026, as part of efforts to fill vacant seats in the affected legislative constituencies.
According to INEC, voting will take place from 8:30am to 2:30pm at polling units within the affected constituencies.
The affected constituencies are Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State; Sakwa and Disina State Constituencies in Bauchi State; and Udu State Constituency in Delta State.
The Commission stated that the elections would be conducted at “Polling Units in the affected constituencies.”
The exercise comprises one federal constituency and four State House of Assembly constituencies across the four states.
INEC said the bye-elections were scheduled to fill the legislative vacancies in the affected constituencies and enable eligible voters in the areas to elect representatives to the vacant seats.
The Commission’s announcement provides the official timetable for the September 19 polls, with political parties and candidates expected to proceed with preparations ahead of the elections.
