Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has directed his media team to focus exclusively on his achievements and record of representation in Abia North, while avoiding any mention, attack or response to other candidates seeking the senatorial seat in the 2027 election.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by George Maduka of the Office of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in which the Senator also asked his supporters, political associates and affiliated groups to adopt the same approach.
Kalu said his re-election campaign should be anchored on his record of representation, legislative performance, infrastructural interventions and human capital development across Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia and Umunneochi Local Government Areas.
He consequently directed members of his media team, supporters and associates to refrain from engaging other candidates in personal attacks, political exchanges or responses to provocations.
According to the statement, Kalu believes the people of Abia North are capable of assessing all candidates based on “verifiable records, performance and capacity to deliver.”
The Senator’s office highlighted the construction and renovation of more than 100 school blocks and classrooms, alongside the provision of desks and other educational facilities across communities in the district.
It also listed the attraction of more than 70 road projects and the distribution of educational materials, including STEM textbooks, school bags, sandals and uniforms to pupils across Abia North.
The statement said Kalu’s representation had further facilitated overseas scholarships, international training and capacity-building opportunities for more than 50 youths and other beneficiaries from the district.
It added that thousands of constituents had benefited from empowerment programmes through the provision of equipment, tools and other forms of economic support.
In healthcare, the statement cited interventions providing free medical services to vulnerable constituents, as well as federal interventions attracted to communities affected by erosion, flooding and other environmental challenges.
Kalu’s legislative record was also highlighted as a major component of his representation since his election to the Senate in 2019.
The statement listed bills sponsored and advanced by the Senator covering education, security, taxation, agriculture, healthcare, transportation, environmental protection, energy, social welfare, justice and economic development.
Among them are the Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act Amendment Bill, National Tax Crimes Commission Bill, National Food Bank Establishment Bill, Compulsory Free Universal Basic Education Act Amendment Bill and National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency Amendment Bill.
Others include the Armed Forces Act Amendment Bill; Federal College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu Bill; Federal Polytechnic Abiriba Bill; Federal University of Medical Sciences and Biomedical Technology, Umunna, Bende Bill; Federal University of Technology, Ovim Bill; Federal College of Agriculture, Isiochi Bill; Nigeria Chinese Language Village Bill; Nigeria Women Trust Fund Bill and Social Welfare Service Bill.
The statement also cited motions sponsored by Kalu on the rehabilitation of the Eastern Rail Line, rural water supply in Abia North, banking infrastructure, decentralisation of Nigeria’s electricity grid, healthcare access for vulnerable Nigerians and renewable energy for health centres.
Other legislative interventions mentioned include those on compulsory use of body-worn cameras by law enforcement agencies, crude oil theft, illegal mining, maritime development, research and innovation.
Kalu, according to the statement, has therefore instructed his media team and supporters to allow his achievements, ongoing projects, legislative record and plans for the future to define his campaign.
“The campaign must remain focused on issues, development and service to the people,” the statement said.
“There should be no insults, personal attacks or responses to provocations. There should also be no mention of other candidates in statements issued by his media office or in campaign materials and commentaries by supporters acting on his behalf.”
The Senator also expressed gratitude to the people of the five local government areas of Abia North for their support, saying the 2027 election should provide another opportunity for them to evaluate his stewardship based on verifiable achievements and his record in the National Assembly.
