The Anambra State Police Command has arrested the last identified member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang allegedly linked to a 2023 kidnapping operation that resulted in the death of the victim.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele ‘M’, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, by operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department following sustained intelligence gathering and investigation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026, by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the suspect was described as the last identified member of the gang allegedly led by a suspected criminal known as “Pincode.”
According to the statement, Oyelu was allegedly an active participant in the kidnapping operation that occurred in 2023 and resulted in the death of the victim.
The Command said his arrest followed painstaking investigation and intelligence gathering aimed at identifying, arresting and prosecuting all individuals allegedly connected with the crime.
It added that “Pincode” and four other suspects linked to the gang are already in custody on remand, awaiting the judgment of the court.
The Police said Oyelu would be handed over to the Correctional Centre upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigative proceedings.
The Command described the arrest as a significant development in its efforts to unravel the activities of the gang and ensure that all persons found to have participated in the crime are brought to justice.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the operatives for their perseverance, dedication and intelligence-led approach to the investigation.
He assured Ndi Anambra that the Command would continue to pursue criminal elements operating within and outside the state until they are brought before the law.
The Commissioner also urged members of the public to continue providing the Police with credible and timely information, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility.
