The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured all 17 chairmanship positions and 260 councillorship seats in the Enugu State Local Government elections.
The results were declared by the Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) and Chief Electoral Officer, Professor Christian Ngwu, following the completion of the final collation exercise on September 26, 2026.
Ngwu declared the APC candidates winners of the chairmanship and councillorship contests across the state, confirming that the party won all 260 councillorship positions in the state’s 260 electoral wards.
The outcome means that the APC will take control of the elected leadership of all 17 Local Government Areas and the 260 political wards in Enugu State.
Declaring the results, Ngwu said the successful candidates had satisfied the requirements of the law and were returned duly elected after scoring the highest number of valid votes cast in their respective constituencies.
He congratulated the winners and urged them to regard their electoral victory as a call to duty and an opportunity to serve the people who elected them.
The ENSIEC chairman also commended security agencies and other stakeholders for their support throughout the electoral process, while reiterating the commission’s commitment to conducting free and fair elections.
The declaration followed the conclusion of the local government electoral process, with the results formally establishing the APC’s sweep across all 17 council areas and 260 wards in the state.
