The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed allegations linking its National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, to an alleged political deal with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party, in a statement dated October 5, 2026, described the allegations as unfounded and urged its members and supporters to disregard what it called rumours circulating in political circles.

The NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., said the party would ordinarily have ignored the allegations but was compelled to respond because repeated claims, if left unchallenged, could be misconstrued as truth.
“Our National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else. He has no secret or open deal whatsoever with the APC regime,” Director said.
He argued that Senator Dickson’s record in public service did not support claims that he would enter into an arrangement capable of undermining the NDC, its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, or his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
According to him, Dickson could have chosen to join the APC but instead opted to remain with the NDC and participate in building what the party described as an alternative political platform.
“He could have taken the easy way out by joining the APC. Instead, he chose the hard, honourable path of building a party with like-minds,” the statement quoted Director as saying.
The NDC spokesman also cited Dickson’s record during his more than seven years in the Senate, particularly his positions on national issues, as evidence of what he described as the former Bayelsa governor’s consistency and commitment to the party’s political agenda.
He further alleged that the claims against Dickson were being promoted by political opponents concerned about the NDC’s growing presence across the country.
“We are fully aware that these unfounded and baseless allegations are emanating from the ranks of our political opponents, who are envious of the growing popularity, acceptability and organic spread of the NDC across the length and breadth of Nigeria,” Director said.
The party urged its supporters, members and well-wishers to remain focused on its political activities and candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We urge all our teeming supporters, members and well-wishers to remain steadfast, keep their eyes on the ball, and work assiduously for victory for our Presidential Candidate and his running mate, and indeed all candidates contesting on the platform of the NDC,” he said.
The statement concluded with the party’s slogan: “Together, we stand. Together, we shall win. A New Nigeria is POssible. We can do it!”
The statement was signed by Osa Director, Esq., National Publicity Secretary, Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), on October 5, 2026.
