MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has attributed the current reduction in electricity supply across Enugu State to a decline in power generation, which has triggered low system frequency and forced the implementation of load shedding.
The company disclosed this in a public notice dated Monday, October 26, 2026, signed by its Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh.
According to MEDL, the drop in generation has affected the volume of electricity available for distribution, following the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) decision to ration the available energy through load shedding.
The development, it said, has reduced the energy allocation to the distribution company, limiting its capacity to meet its daily service-level commitments to customers across its network.
“MEDL wishes to assure its customers that it is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to distribute the available energy allocation fairly across its network,” Ezeh said in the notice.
The company expressed optimism that electricity supply would return to normal soon, although it did not specify when the situation was expected to improve.
“MEDL sincerely regrets the inconvenience this situation may cause its esteemed customers and appreciates their patience, understanding, and continued cooperation,” the statement added.
The company urged customers to bear with it as it continues to monitor developments and distribute the available electricity across its service areas.
