THE Indigenous People of Niger Delta, IPND, has hailed the tribunal judgment declaring Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege winner of the February 23 Delta Central senatorial election, saying ‘good will always triumph over evil.’

The group also commended the DSP for working towards the betterment of the Niger Delta region by appointing youths from the region to form part of his legislative aides, adding that this would ensure growth and youth inclusiveness in governance.

In a statement issued by the National President of the group, Mr. Tiemo Pumokumo, IPND, particularly thanked the senator over his appointment of the group’s president emeritus, Mr. Christopher Agaga as his senior special assistant and the appointment of Bernard Okumagba as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, by President Muhammadu Buhari, assuring they would bring their wealth of experience to bear in their respective positions.

According to the statement, “We the Indigenous People of Niger Delta want to first and foremost congratulate the Deputy Senate President on his victory at the tribunal. Good will always triumph over evil.

“We want to commend him for his effort so far in ensuring that the Niger Delta is brought back to its glory. He has proved that the youths are not left out in governance following his recent appointments with 85 percent of his legislative aides being youths. This is a sign of growth and future sustainability of youth inclusiveness in governance.

“We want to also commend him for his effort in calling on the International Oil Companies operating outside the region to relocate their headquarters back to the region. He has in his capacity brought government closer to the people and helped to increase the confidence of the masses in government.

“This effort is further consolidated in the recent appointment of Chief Bernard Okumagba as the Managing Director of the NDDC by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We the Indigenous People of Niger Delta have no doubt after a proper review of his profile, that Chief Okumagba has the competency and ability to deliver massive development across all the states within the Niger Delta region.

“We want to use this medium to also thank and appreciate the Deputy Senate President for recognising and appointing one of our own, our President Emeritus, Prince Christopher Agaga as Senior Special Assistant on Community Relations, Conflict Resolutions and Local Content. We are confident that with his years of experience in human resources management and relations, he has a lot to deliver positively.

“We look forward to a better, stronger and more focused Niger Delta region blooming with successful and vibrant youths.”
