The National Coordinator, Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), CSP Ebere Amaraizu has said the ongoing POCACOV/GOFEC Coal City Neighbourhood football league(Ogbe League) Season one is more than a soccer fiesta.
The event is an attempt by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices in partnership with stakeholders to get back Nigerian children and youths from various neighbourhood on track through value reorientation, engagement and strategic leadership direction. It is also an anti-vice activity of POCACOV through sporting events to foster unity, peace amongst the youth and make them channel their energy to the positive alternatives provided.
Amaraizu disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday shortly after a closed-door meeting with the Enugu state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Tony Manfred Nzekwe in his office to cement measures and modalities on the final match of the epoch making event now slated to take place at the mainbowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium on 21/12/2020 by 7pm.
According to the POCACOV National Coordinator, “POCACOV/GOFEC coal city Neighbourhood football league(Ogbe league) Season one which started on 14/11/2020 with fifteen registered neighbourhood (Ogbe)teams have lived up to the expectations and now in semi-final stage.
“A lot of players have been seen by various football intermediaries that watch matches daily at the designated centre(Ngwo Park pitch Uwani).
“A lot of mouth-watering activities have been activated for the viewing delight of fans, spectators and other sports enthusiasts in Enugu and its environs but importantly with the strict adherence to the guidelines and protocols as it concerns COVID-19.
“There will be artiste/comic performance by POCACOV ambassadors. There will be bikers activities, exhibitions by POCACOV/GOFEC Mascots reminding all on the need to shun vices in order to be a champion. There will be musical entertainment by POCACOV Ambassadors. The winding up activities will commence by 5pm local time and by 7pm local time, the final match will kickstart under flood light.”
