A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Enugu North Senatorial District, Engr. Mike Asogwa, has strongly criticised the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, and the APC Chairman in Enugu State, Ugochukwu Agballa, over what he described as their ineffective and uninspiring leadership.
Asogwa took a swipe at the duo for their delayed response to Prince Arthur Eze’s claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had endorsed Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for a second term.
He said their reaction was sluggish and lacking in originality, stating that the former campaign spokesman of President Tinubu, Dr. Josef Onoh, had shown more leadership and agility in defending the APC’s image in the South East.
“It was embarrassing that what I read in the media emanating from the Minister and the party chairman was a copy-and-paste material, a plagiarism of Dr Josef Onoh’s rebuttal of Arthur Eze’s blunder,” Asogwa said.
“It’s a shame that a party like APC in Enugu State does not have a spokesperson who can be proactive to promote and elevate the party in the state.”
He further alleged that both Nnaji and Agballa were riding on Onoh’s swift response, and called for their resignation over what he termed “lack of performance.”
Asogwa accused the minister of failing to call stakeholders’ meetings to promote President Tinubu’s administration or give any account of leadership to the state he represents in the Federal Executive Council.
“It is a shame that Arthur Eze made the comment at a venue where a sitting governor was celebrating two years of achievement, while a sitting minister was showcasing only his painted house in the village,” he remarked.
The APC chieftain noted that stakeholders in Enugu North Senatorial District had long recognised and appreciated Governor Peter Mbah’s developmental efforts in the zone. He advised Nnaji to emulate the governor’s focus and achievements rather than launching poorly timed attacks.
“The massive work that Governor Peter Mbah is doing in Enugu State is enough to silence Uche Nnaji and Ugochukwu Agballa into submission,” Asogwa added.
“The state government recently held the Enugu Tech Festival sharpening the youth’s tech skills, but as Minister for Science and Technology, what innovation has he brought into the APC administration?”
He alleged that the minister has no notable achievements to his name and referenced recent media assessments that labelled Nnaji a “sleeping minister.”
“Uche Nnaji is a non-performing minister because of his limited vision, political dependency, and lack of public engagement, compounded by his inability to secure electoral wins for President Tinubu in Enugu State,” Asogwa said.
