Ebonyi State police command has arrested a man, Ezeoke Chidera, for killing his 60-year-old neighbour, Mrs. Rose Awoke.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed this in a statement released on Tuesday.
SP Ukandu said the incident occurred at Egugho village, Ezzagu community, in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state, on Monday.
He noted that the suspect attacked the deceased with a shovel and hit her several times during a dispute, which led to her death.
“Officers of the command were able to apprehend the suspect; the command is currently investigating to understand the motive of the brazen attack.
“On 02/06/2025 at about 0600hrs, we received a report that one Ezeoke Chidera, who lives in the same compound with Mrs. Awoke Rose, aged about 60 years, attacked her by hitting her several times with a shovel and abandoned her in a pool of her blood,” the statement read.
