The Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has dismissed as false and misleading a viral social media post alleging that a washed-off road is located within the state, insisting the project does not belong to the government.

In a disclaimer issued on April 14, 2026, the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Ngene, said the attention of the Ministry had been drawn to “a misleading and unverified social media post by BT Afrika, which falsely portrays a washed-off road as being located in Enugu State.”

“We wish to state unequivocally that the road depicted in the said post does not correspond to any ongoing or completed project executed by the Enugu State Government. The claim is therefore inaccurate, misleading, and a clear misrepresentation of facts,” Ngene said.

The Ministry emphasized that all its road projects adhere strictly to established engineering standards, including the use of proper stone base courses and effective drainage systems.

“It is instructive to note that all road projects executed by the Ministry are constructed with a proper stone base course as part of the pavement structure and are complemented with functional drainage systems designed to manage stormwater effectively,” the statement read.

“The road shown in the said post visibly lacks these fundamental engineering features, further confirming that it is not one of our projects,” it added.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to quality infrastructure, the Ministry noted that projects carried out under the administration of Peter Ndubuisi Mbah are built to withstand environmental challenges and meet modern engineering benchmarks.

“The Enugu State Government… remains committed to delivering durable, high-quality, and climate-resilient infrastructure. All projects undertaken by the Ministry are subjected to strict quality control, supervision, and adherence to established engineering standards,” Ngene stated.

The Ministry also challenged the publisher of the viral post to provide verifiable evidence to support its claim.

“We therefore challenge the publisher of the post to clearly state the exact location of the road in question, with verifiable details, to substantiate their claim. In the absence of such evidence, the post should be regarded as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and undermine the visible progress being made in the State,” the statement said.

It advised members of the public to disregard the post and rely on official government channels for accurate information.
