Travellers were left stranded for more than three hours on Sunday following a severe traffic gridlock along the Akwankibo-Jos Road.

The gridlock was reportedly triggered by a broken-down trailer carrying goods, which obstructed the major highway and brought vehicular movement to a standstill.

A commuter caught in the traffic told our correspondent that motorists and passengers had been trapped for several hours.

“We’ve been stuck here for over three hours,” he said, adding that “A trailer carrying wares broke down on the road blocking the entire road.”

He said personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had attempted to remove the truck from the road, but the traffic situation remained unresolved.

“He also told our correspondent that men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC have tried to remove the truck but we’re still stuck here,” the commuter said.

As of the time of filing this report, travellers were still stranded as efforts to clear the obstruction continued.
