President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Suleiman Zuntu as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), with effect from April 16, 2026.

The appointment, according to a statement issued by the Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Chris Ugwuegbulam, is for an initial term of four years.

Ugwuegbulam stated that the appointment was made “in accordance with the provision of Section 5 of the National Biosafety Management Agency Act, 2015.”

He described Dr. Zuntu as “a Public Health professional and policy strategist with a proven track record of driving impactful national programs.”

President Tinubu also charged the new NBMA boss to deploy her wealth of experience and expertise toward strengthening the agency and advancing national development.

“The President tasked the appointee to contribute her expertise to the agency for the good of the nation,” the statement added.
