The Nigeria Union of Journalists Warri Correspondents’ Chapel has moved to strengthen its relationship with Manroy Global Services Limited following a high-level courtesy visit by the chapel’s newly elected leadership to the company on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Chapel, Akpokona Omafuaire, said the visit formed part of efforts to formally engage critical stakeholders and institutions willing to collaborate with the media.

Addressing the management of the company, Omafuaire explained that the current leadership emerged after the chapel’s election held on March 16, 2026, adding that it had become necessary to introduce the new executives to strategic partners.

“Following the successful election, the chapel deemed it necessary to formally engage organizations and individuals willing to partner with the media,” he said.

The NUJ chairman noted that members of the chapel represent several national newspapers and major media organisations across the country, stressing that the union remained committed to professionalism, agenda-setting journalism, and effective dissemination of information.

He also highlighted some achievements of the chapel, including the acquisition of a permanent secretariat through the support of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

Omafuaire appealed to Manroy Global Services to support the chapel in areas such as capacity building, internet facilities, transportation, and welfare for journalists.

He further underscored the importance of continuous training and retraining of media professionals, especially in emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence.

“The media industry is evolving rapidly, and journalists must continually upgrade their knowledge to remain relevant and effective,” he stated.

Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Manroy Global Services, Mike Taniowho, described the company as a subsidiary of Arthur Ferdinand Limited and reaffirmed its commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility.

“We remain committed to impacting lives positively and contributing to societal development,” Taniowho said.

He assured the delegation of the company’s readiness to collaborate with the chapel and requested that the union properly outline its areas of need for consideration.

Taniowho added that the company looked forward to building a productive and mutually beneficial relationship with the media.

Earlier, Sylver Ofugara welcomed the journalists and congratulated the newly elected executives of the chapel.

He praised journalists for their role in informing society and promoting development, describing the visit as significant and symbolic.

Ofugara particularly commended the presence of senior journalists in the delegation, referring to them as mentors and respected figures within the profession.

He disclosed that the company had undertaken several humanitarian and community-based interventions, including donation of transformers, educational support programmes, and medical outreaches.

“The company recently donated transformers to communities, distributed educational materials to schools, and carried out medical outreaches,” he said.

“There was a particular outreach where the company sponsored the surgery of a man who was almost blind. Today, the beneficiary has regained his sight and returned to work.”

Ofugara assured the chapel that the company would support efforts aimed at improving the efficiency and productivity of journalists in Warri and beyond.
