The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday granted bail to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the ongoing case involving the alleged unlawful interception of a telephone conversation linked to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who presided over the matter, admitted the former governor to bail in the sum of N100 million with one surety in like sum.
The court ruled that the surety must be a resident of either Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and must also deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property with the court registry.
El-Rufai was arraigned in April on a five-count amended charge bordering on alleged unauthorised access to a telephone conversation involving Ribadu.
The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory had pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.
The case is part of ongoing legal proceedings surrounding allegations of unlawful access to confidential communications involving top government officials.
