Nigerian gospel music producer, Eezee Tee, has sparked fresh debate over the state of the country’s gospel music industry, describing it as a space plagued by hypocrisy, pretence and hidden wrongdoing.
The music executive made the remarks in a post shared on his Instagram page, where he claimed that the reality behind the gospel music scene is far different from the image it projects publicly.
According to him, the industry is heavily shrouded in religious appearances, making it difficult for many people to see what truly happens behind the scenes.
“The Gospel Music Industry is darker than what you think. It is clothed in hypocrisy, lies, denials, pretence, and deep religion, so folks rarely see through it. It is more performance-based than spirit-led. Driven more by emotions than spirituality,” he wrote.
Eezee Tee further argued that many individuals within the gospel community who criticise secular musicians are already aware of the challenges and alleged misconduct within the gospel industry.
Drawing from his experience working in both the gospel and secular music sectors, he claimed he had witnessed disturbing realities that remain unknown to the public.
“Most of the gospel folks who criticize the secular industry know this for a fact. I have been here for a while and have been privileged to engage with both industries, and trust me, you have no idea the evil that goes on in the Gospel Industry. Once you stand against evil, you’re hated and become a target. May Jesus help us,” he added.
His comments have since generated reactions on social media, with many users weighing in on his claims about the challenges facing the gospel music industry.
