The Federal Government has introduced a new initiative to train doctors, nurses and other healthcare specialists specifically for service in the Nigerian Armed Forces, with admissions scheduled to commence in the 2026 academic session.
The programme is designed to develop a dedicated pool of military medical professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills required to provide healthcare services in both routine and operational environments.
It is expected to strengthen the Armed Forces’ medical system and improve healthcare support for military personnel nationwide.
Government officials say the initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance the country’s defence and healthcare sectors by investing in specialised manpower development.
The programme also aligns with the Federal Government’s broader strategy of investing in human capital development, improving healthcare infrastructure and building a more resilient and self-sustaining military medical workforce.
