The Enugu State Government has resumed the Continuous Survey Revalidation and Digitisation Exercise as part of its ongoing drive to modernise the state’s land administration system.

The exercise, which will run until the end of August 2026, is being implemented under the state’s Survey Records Digitisation Programme aimed at creating a transparent, reliable and fully digital land and survey records system.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu State Geographic Information System Service (ENGIS), Chiwetalu Nwatu, announced the resumption of the exercise, urging landowners and other stakeholders to take advantage of the exercise to regularise and update their records.

According to Nwatu, the initiative forms part of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s broader digital transformation agenda for the state and is designed to improve the management, accessibility and reliability of land records.

The state government called on landowners, estate developers, surveyors and property owners to submit their Survey Plans, Layout Approvals and other relevant land documents for verification and revalidation.

The documents will subsequently be used for Digital Identity and Geospatial Mapping, as well as the issuance of Digital Land Identity Cards.

The government said the exercise is being conducted at five designated centres across the state to facilitate participation by residents and other stakeholders.

The designated centres are the ENGIS headquarters, No. 4 Chisomoi Ukpaka Close, Ebe-ano Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu; Nsukka Local Government Area Secretariat; Enugu State Ministry of Housing; Enugu State Housing Development Corporation; and the Office of the Surveyor-General, Enugu.

The state government urged all affected stakeholders to participate in the exercise within the stipulated period, stressing that the initiative would contribute to the establishment of an accurate and dependable land information database.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to developing an error-free land administration system that would make land and survey records more accessible, secure and reliable.

The exercise is expected to further strengthen the state’s digital land management framework and support more efficient administration of land-related transactions across Enugu State.
