Tragedy has struck a family after three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, were found dead on a farm near the Owena Army Barracks in Ondo State.

Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh disclosed the development, identifying the victims as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

According to Jimoh, the children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday but later left the location to return home.

He said their father became alarmed after returning home and discovering that the children were missing, prompting a search for the siblings.

The search ended tragically when the bodies of the three children were found on Saturday, September 5, “around the bank of a small river within the farm”.

Jimoh said the police had commenced an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the siblings.

The Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has consequently ordered a full investigation into the incident, directing operatives to establish what led to the children’s deaths.

The police command said it was “diligently documenting all available facts and circumstances surrounding the unfortunate occurrence” as part of efforts to determine the cause of the tragedy.

Ohagwu also commiserated with the bereaved family over the loss, assuring them of the command’s commitment to uncovering all relevant facts surrounding the deaths.

The investigation is ongoing.
