The Anambra State Police Command has launched efforts to identify and reunite a four-year-old boy, who gave his name as Ifedimma Emmanuel, with his family.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, September 19, 2026, appealing to members of the public who may know the child or his family to provide useful information.
Ikenga said the boy was found wandering along Anatanaba Road, Okpoko, on the evening of Friday, September 18, by a joint security patrol comprising police operatives attached to Okpoko Police Division and members of the Okpoko Vigilante Group.
According to the PPRO, the child was unable to provide sufficient information about his parents, guardians, residential address or other details that could assist the police in tracing his family.
He said the boy is currently in the safe custody of the police, where his welfare and safety are being adequately attended to as efforts continue to locate his parents or other relatives.
Ikenga appealed to parents, guardians, relatives and members of the public who may recognise the child or have information capable of establishing his identity to promptly contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to enable the police verify the child’s identity and facilitate his safe reunification with his family.
The Command assured the public that the welfare, safety and protection of the child remain paramount, adding that every necessary step is being taken to ensure his safe and timely return to his family.
