President Bola Tinubu has nominated three new executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), while renominating three serving directors for another five-year term.

The nominations were conveyed to the Senate in a letter from the President, according to a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga named the newly nominated directors as Mr Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms Ogechukwu Modie, Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr Said Abutalib, Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.

The three serving officials renominated for another five-year tenure are Mr Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Mr Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The President urged the Senate to “consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity,” Onanuga said.

The presidential aide also disclosed that Tinubu had approved Jumoke Gafar’s appointment as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser.

He explained that Gafar’s appointment was subject to the completion of the statutory processes stipulated under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The nominations come months after Tinubu appointed Rabu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive of the NMDPRA.
